Being the oldest city in the Netherlands Nijmegen has a long history which started during the Roman Empire. Nature lovers, people enjoying peace and quiet and sports enthousiasts can find what they are looking for in the expansive forests, the many heather fields, polders and countless hills. If you are looking for green then you can slo find this within the city. Over the last years Nijmegen has invested in several city parks, petting zoos and playgrounds, which make for nice outing for the whole family.
